THE VISITS OF NIGERIA INSTITUTE OF LEATHER AND SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY JOS INDUSTRY

CLETUS BAKO SHURKUK, PERMANENT SECRETARY OF THE MINISTRY & DIRECTORS VISITS NIGERIA INSTITUTE OF LEATHER AND SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY JOS, SEEKS COLLABORATION TO REVAMP THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY* In a bid to revitalize the creative and technical sectors of the state, the Honourable Commissioner of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr. Fidelis Karsuk Daboer, paid a visit to the Nigeria Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST) in Jos. During the visit, Dr. Shurkuk emphasized the importance of collaboration to fully harness the potential of the creative industry which can as well drive innovation and job creation in the state. Dr. Shurkuk pointed out the critical role institutions like NILEST can play in providing technical solutions and creating employment opportunities for citizens. He reiterated the commitment of the *Time is Now Administration* to revamping the technical and creative sub-sectors of the economy, stressing that the time for action is now. The Commissioner sought areas of partnership with NILEST, reflecting the need for a collaborative approach to harness the potential of the creative industry. The Zonal Director of NILEST expressed his appreciation to Dr. Shurkuk and his delegation for the visit and their willingness to collaborate. He took the team on a tour of the institute’s facilities, showcasing the production units, their functions, and the state-of-the-art leather production machinery.
