*HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND INNOVATION, ALONG WITH THE PLATEAU STATE TEAM, ATTENDED THE NIGERIA AfCFTA DIGITAL TRADE AND GLOBAL MARKET EVENT AT THE STATE HOUSE, OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.* In a bid to harness the potential of Digital transformation, and its transformative impact on Nigeria and Africa Digital market and export, the Office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria organized the AfCFTA Digital Trade Workshop and Global Market. The event, which brought together key stakeholders from across the continent, focused on the urgent need to build robust digital trade protocols and explored their implications for Africa, with a particular emphasis on Nigeria and its subnational entities, including states and local governments. The workshop delved into the critical role of digital transformation in modern workplaces and businesses, pointing Nigeria's journey toward embracing digital technologies across various sectors. Participants discussed strategies to accelerate this transformation, ensuring that Nigeria remains competitive in the global digital economy. A key focus was placed on empowering youth-driven Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in digital-related fields, recognizing the pivotal role young entrepreneurs play in driving innovation and economic growth. Plateau State was well-represented at the event, with a delegation led by the Honourable Commissioner of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr. Cletus Bako Shurkuk. The team also included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry and Director General of the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICDA), Mr. Dominic Gwaman Datong. Their participation demonstrates the state's commitment to leveraging digital trade and innovation for sustainable development. The workshop provided a valuable platform for networking, fostering collaborations between Plateau State and other participants, including international partners.
