PLATEAU STATE COMMISSIONER FOR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION LEADS DELEGATION TO "CYBER SECURE NIGERIA CONFERENCE, 2024" IN ABUJA, NIGERIA. The Plateau State Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Prof (Assoc). Goselle Obed Nanjul, recently led a team of the ministry of STI to attend the Cyber Secure Nigeria Conference, 2024 in Abuja. Organized by the Cybersecurity Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN), the two-day event brought together policy makers, cybersecurity experts, technology enthusiasts, cybercrime fighting agencies, business leaders, and government officials from across the country to explore & discuss the ever- evolving world of cyberspace and the future of cybersecurity. The event was declared opened by a powerful speech from the Special Guest of Honour - the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, setting the tone for insightful discussions. The theme of the conference, "Leveraging AI for Cyber Resilience: Building a Secure Future Bridge," highlighted the vital role artificial intelligence (AI) will play in protecting digital infrastructures from evolving cyber threats. Experts like Nasir Yammama (MON), Senior Special Assistant on Innovation to the Vice President, shared insights on how AI could detect and prevent cyberattacks before they cause significant damage. Speakers at the conference discussed the potential of AI to revolutionize cybersecurity, from automated threat detection to real-time data analysis. Cybersecurity professionals, AI experts, and government officials collaborated to explore how these technologies could work together to create a safer and more resilient digital landscape. The discussants noted Nigeria's peculiarity on Cybersecurity challenges, the available opportunities and the possibilities of policing evolving threats. The Plateau State delegation actively participated in these discussions, with Prof (Assoc) Goselle Obed Nanjul leading key ministry officials, which included the Permanent Secretary Mr. Fidelis Karsuk Daboer, Director of Research, Planning, and Statistics Mr. Timloh Nandang, and Acting Director of Information Technology Mr. Eugene Dalyop. The team is focused on implementing policies to enhance cybersecurity across various sectors in Plateau State, including education, healthcare, finance, and governance. Prof (Assoc) Goselle emphasized that Plateau State is committed to gaining more insights into the operations of the digital ecosystem to enable her deploy strategies that could help her navigate the complex cyber landscape.
